A Cytogenetic Study of Autosomal Chromosome Abnormalities

Abstract
Presented in this paper, the data from a chromosome study of 241 patients referred for suspected autosomal chromosome abnormalities. Karyotypes were obtained using short-term blood culture and direct method.
Of these, 151 patients had normal chromosome complements; 90(37.35o)patients had autosomal chromosome abnormalities, 80% (72/90) had aberrations of autosomal chromosome number, the others 20%(18/90)¢¥ had aberrations of autosomal chromosome structure.
In abnormal structures there are paracentric and pericentric inversion, Robertsonian `,ran, slocation. Reciprocal translocation, chromosome insertion, marker chromosome and others.
Thus the results of the present study indicate the importance of cytogenetic evaluation in clinically abnormal patients.
